About

A bit about Abdul Hayyi Abubakar.

Abdul Hayyi Abubakar joined North American Spine & Pain as a physician assistant after completing a Master of Medical Science at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University.

Their clinical training spanned an unusually wide range for a pain practice — emergency medicine and general surgery at Temple University Hospital, orthopedic surgery and sports medicine at Peninsula Orthopaedic Associates, and physical medicine & rehabilitation, where the focus was exactly the work done here: musculoskeletal and neurologic evaluation, strength and range-of-motion testing, and gait assessment. Their procedural training included intra-articular knee and shoulder injections, fracture reduction, casting and splinting, and wound management.

Before medicine became a career, it was a job. For seven years, Abdul Hayyi worked as a certified home health aide across New Jersey, caring for chronically ill and elderly patients — the kind of long, unglamorous, day-after-day care that teaches you what living with pain actually costs someone. That perspective shows up in their exam room as patience, and in treatment plans that account for the life a patient has to go back to.
